Hi-Lo Taco Co.
Foodmuse teamed up with Brand Strategist, Montina Filice, and Graphic Designer, Evan Sornstein, to oversee the Brand Strategy, Development, and Implementation for a Philly-based Tex-Mex BBQ concept.
We kicked off with the Brand Strategy Phase, whereby we codified the Mission, Brand Values and Market Positioning. Perhaps most importantly, this phased revealed the name: Hi-Lo Taco Co., a restaurant where we embrace several contradictions at once. Marrying the high with the low, this restaurant is simultaneously offering premium ingredients in casual environs with chef-driven cuisine juxtaposed against a super-approachable bar program.
The visual expression needed to also capture the same spirit, being both approachable and intriguing. We opted for a bold color palette paired with a familiar, nostalgic typeface. An essential for our client was celebrating the people at the heart of the brand, thus we determined that hand-drawn portraits should be at the heart of visual identity.
