Postrivoro

Prior to launching Airbnb Experiences in 2016, we piloted the Cooking Category with an event called Postrivoro that brought chefs to the Airbnb HQ from Turkey, Sweden, Mexico, Japan and Italy. Inspired by a Turkish proverb that states, “Your homeland is not where you were born, but where you have a full stomach”, we designed a six-course experiential menu - paired with wine, of course - that celebrated the transportive quality of food.

All ticket sales were donated to Foodmuse 501(c)(3) client, Kitchen Table Advisors.

We had the great fortune to be able to re-create this dinner experience with the same cohort of chefs in 2018. Any previous sense of restraint had dissolved in the two year period between events. Between spit-roasting a Skylark Ranch lamb in the Airbnb parking lot to having our dinner plates repurposed as an art installation, we flirted with a culinary debauchery seldom seen in corporate kitchens.

In 2018, Foodmuse co-founder McKenzie, forged a partnership with Slow Food International which activates members of the Slow Food community, allowing them to host food experiences in which all proceeds go directly to Slow Food. We beta tested mini Airbnb Cooking Experiences at Terra Madre, a biannual Slow Food Conference in Turin, Italy.
